In the UK, there are rules for repairing a punctured tyre..

  • Location

  • Repairs must be within the central three-quarters of the tread, also known as the "minor repair area". This area is between 60% and 70% of the tyre's nominal width, and it varies by tire model. 

  • Size

    The puncture must be less than 6 mm in diameter. 

  • Safety

    Repairs near the sidewall are not permitted because they may not be safe or last long. 

  • Runflat tyres

    Runflat tyres should not be repaired because it's difficult to determine if the interior structure is compromised.
